Ladybugs play a large role in society. As you can see from the map above ladybugs can live on most places on earth and most tend to help us humans. Enough to consider them as insects that gardeners will introduce into aphid or mite infested flowers and shrubs. Aside from insects the ladybugs also enjoy eating pollen as well. The most important job to the human society is to keep pests at bay. Ladybug's are considered to be a beneficial insect, they play a vital role in helping us reduce how much chemical applications farmers have to apply to keep things like the aphids at manageable levels.

The lost ladybug project is designed to help us learn more about the ladybug's life. Everything from life cycles, diets... to why they are disappearing. Children can be one of the best modes of gathering evidence about insects like ladybugs. The children are so energized and so ready to learn about new thing that it is easier to teach them the good things about insects like our beloved ladybug. Adults have their mind made up on most things so convincing them otherwise is more work and time consuming. Children work like a block of mold-able clay. The more information that we can fill their heads with to make the world a better place from day one, the better the earth is going to be when they are finally of age to make decisions all on their own. If we don't teach people what is happening to beneficial insects then it will be too late. The pests are already developing ways to beat chemical sprays, they have already beat nature, but they have yet to out run other insects that feed on them. Identifying ladybugs and reporting them to the Lost ladybug Project is simple and not very time consuming. It allows them to track the ever changing habitats of the ladybug. (4.)
Ladybugs benefit the agricultural sector the most because ladybugs are a beneficial insect that feeds on other pest insects in the crops. This leads to better quality crops, which leads to a better economy. This will effect everyone who eats or decorates with plants. Not many insects don't harm our crops so every species that does not choose to feast on the crops but rather on the pests that do harm the crops is a species that we need to keep around. The lost ladybug project does just that by locating ladybugs we can track movement, how many lady bugs there are and finally if they seem to be disappearing.
